16 May, 2023 — During the African Private Capital Association’s annual conference held in Cairo in early May, a panel of venture capital investors in Africa singled out the most perspective local startups, including Twiga, Touch and Pay and Fuelin.
Twiga, a Kenyan company revolutionizing farmer-shopkeeper connections through a mobile app, enables vendors to order products via their app, delivering within 24 hours from warehouses or smallholder farmers.
Touch and Pay, a Nigerian fintech startup, released its innovative Cowry card used for bus fare payments in Lagos and other Nigerian states. Touch and Pay’s Cowry card offers versatile functionality, allowing users to make fund transfers, purchase airtime, pay for interstate travel, and engage in merchant transactions.
Fuelin, an Egyptian startup, provides a platform for logistics companies to optimize fuel consumption management for their fleets, utilizes OCR technology to convert fuel dispenser readings into digital text, enabling accurate fuel needs assessment based on load types and routes while aiding in locating nearby gas stations.
